A Win-Win Collaboration

The collaboration between Visit Rwanda and European sports giants like Arsenal Football Club and Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) is a win-win situation for all parties involved. These partnerships extend beyond traditional marketing strategies and showcase Rwanda's commitment to sustainable tourism and economic development.

The Arsenal Connection: One of the most prominent collaborations was the partnership between Visit Rwanda and Arsenal FC. This unique partnership, launched in 2018, has since yielded numerous benefits. Arsenal's iconic cannon was swapped for the "Visit Rwanda" logo, creating a remarkable visual identity for the country. The exposure and recognition gained from this partnership have undoubtedly contributed to Rwanda's rise as a desirable travel destination.
The Arsenal partnership, which focuses on wildlife conservation and community development, has helped to support Rwanda's commitment to protecting endangered species, such as mountain gorillas. Tourists from all corners of the globe now flock to the Volcanoes National Park to witness these majestic creatures in their natural habitat. This initiative has not only contributed to the conservation of the gorillas but has also provided a sustainable income for local communities, thus strengthening the ties between the country's people and its natural treasures.

PSG's Commitment to Sustainability: Paris Saint-Germain's partnership with Rwanda has also played a pivotal role in the nation's tourism growth. Beyond showcasing the "Visit Rwanda" logo on their jerseys, PSG and Rwanda have worked together on numerous initiatives focused on sustainable tourism and biodiversity conservation.
The partnership has led to awareness campaigns promoting Rwanda's natural beauty and the importance of preserving it. Tourists are now more informed and engaged in the country's conservation efforts. The collaboration has also facilitated educational programs, connecting international students with local conservation experts.

After two giants (Arsenal and Paris Saint Germain), Rwanda has once again stepped onto the global football by officially becoming a Platinum Partner of Germany's top football club, FC Bayern Munich, From August 2023 until 2028.

Top attractions to visit in Rwanda

Volcanoes national park: The "Parc National de Volcans" covers 160 km2 (62 square meter) of rainforest and encompasses five of the eight volcanoes in the virunga mountains, namely Karisimbi, Bisoke, Muhabura, Gahinga, Gahinga and Sabyinyo. It borders Virunga National Park in the Democratic Republic of Congo and Mgahinga Gorilla National Park in Uganda. It is home to the mountain gorilla and the golden monkey and was the base for the primatologist Dian Fossey.

Only two hour drive from Rwanda's capital of Kigali, the park is a central location for exploring some distinctly Rwandan experiences. While a visit to the mountain gorillas is often at the top of visitor, the dramatic landscape also offers thrilling hiking and visits to the fascinating golden monkeys. Vegetation, volcanoes, Dian Fossey tomb.

Lake Kivu is one of the African Great Lakes. It lies on the border between the Democratic Republic of Congo and Rwanda and is in the Albertine Rift, the western branch of the East African Rift. Lake Kivu empties into the Rusizi River which flows southwards into Lake Tanganyika. In the past, Lake Kivu drained toward the north, contributing to the White Nile. About 13,000 to 9,000 years ago, Volcanic activity blocked Lake Kivu's outlet to the watershed of the Nile. The volcanism produced mountains, including the Virungas. which rose between Lake Kivu and Lake Edward, to the north. Water from Lake Kivu was then forced south down the Ruzizi. This, in turn, raised the level of Lake Tanganyika which overflowed down the Lukunga River.

Congo Nile Trail: The Congo Nile watershed (the divide between the drainage basins of Africa’s two great rivers) has given a name to an extraordinary 10-day hiking adventure. It covers the 227 km/ 141 miles between the very north and the very south of the Rwandan coast of Lake Kivu.

The Trail has well-established overnight options (place names on the map below) wherever darkness is likely to find you. More information about each of them is provided in the Itineraries section.

Unlike the Gorilla Highlands Trails in Uganda and Rwanda, the Congo Nile Trail on the Rwandan coast of Lake Kivu is (semi-sufficiently) signposted. It also has accommodation and other solutions specifically created to facilitate independent exploration.

Beside these 3 attractions, there are many other to visit ( Kigali Genocide Memorial, Nyungwe National park, Lake Kivu, art centers, Iby’Iwacu cultural village…).

In conclusion, Rwanda's collaboration with European sports teams exemplifies the transformative power of strategic partnerships. These alliances have not only placed Rwanda on the global tourism stage but have also cemented the country's reputation as a destination that cares about its people, wildlife, and the world. Visit Rwanda, and experience the magic of a nation that is redefining tourism through the beautiful game and a profound commitment to conservation and community development Did you find this article interesting? you can follow me on twitter for more interraction @ryankdev15
